SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior and the College of St. Scholastica will once again host a Dig Pink match in 2026, furthering the support of breast cancer research in collaboration with the Essentia Health Foundation.

The Yellowjackets will take on St. Scholastica on Tuesday, October 6 inside Mertz Mortorelli Gym on the campus of UW-Superior. The opening serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. 

All proceeds from the event will go towards a new ultrasound machine for the Essentia Health Breast Center. This vital piece of equipment will help expand access to breast health services and provide greater access to timely diagnostic care to patients in our community.

"Dig Pink is one of those nights that puts everything into perspective," UW-Superior head volleyball coach Molly Stock said. "We get to compete and do what we love, while also using our team and our community to support an important cause. Raising money for a new ultrasound machine makes this year's event especially meaningful, and we're excited to see what we can accomplish together!"

"What UW-Superior and St. Scholastica are doing for our community goes far beyond a volleyball match," said Matt Piede, Chief Development Officer of the Essentia Health Foundation. "Every dollar raised through Dig Pink moves us closer to expanding breast ultrasound and biopsy services here at home, ensuring patients can continue receiving expert care here in the Twin Ports."

Part of the event will also feature a raffle auction to raise funds. Local businesses and community partners, should they feel inclined, can make donations to support this cause and make a meaningful difference throughout the Twin Ports community. Donations may be dropped off at the Marcovich Wellness Center, or through an arranged method of pickup by Friday, September 25.

Dig Pink matches were created by the Side-Out Foundation. Since their founding in 2005, the Side-Out Foundation has been laser-focused on a single goal: to help people living with metastatic breast cancer see more tomorrows. Rick Dunetz, the executive director and founder, coached high school volleyball when his mother, Gloria, was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Together he and his father, Bryant, decided to tell her story, and the story of all with metastatic breast cancer, through dedicated volleyball matches across the United States.
