University of Wisconsin-Superior Athletics

MORRIS, Minn. – The Yellowjacket women's soccer team traveled to Cougar Field for Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action against the University of Minnesota Morris Saturday. The 'Jackets played effectively, shutting out the Cougars 4-0 while moving to 2-0-1 in conference play. 
 

Match Notes

• Superior opened up the scoring at the 27th minute, when Sonja Root (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) found the back of the net after receiving an assist from Lilly Breitkreutz (Sartell, Minn./Sartell). 

• In the second half, Clarie Loria fired a shot into the goal after a helper from Brynn Johnson (South Range, Wis./Superior) at the 71st minute.  

• Five minutes later, Loria found the back of the net for the second time for an unassisted goal.

• Breitkreutz ended the match with a goal of her own, with help from Anna Berger (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) at the 89th minute. 

• Baylee Nygard (Saint Peter, Minn./Saint Peter) received a clean slate, making two saves in a full 90 minutes.

• Niamh Larson (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) led UWS with three shots on goal while Loria fired a total of five.

The Yellowjackets return to SCCU Stadium Wednesday night where they host Martin Luther. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
