Donte Samuels

Donte Harris

Donte Samuels is in his second season as an assistant men's basketball coach under Greg Polkowski in 2024-25. He assists with all facets of the program.

In addition to his coaching duties, Samuels is also employed in the Office of Admissions, recruiting students from the western portion of Wisconsin. He was named to the position in August 2023. 

Samuels comes to UW-Superior after serving as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III North Carolina Wesleyan, overseeing the recruiting, scouting, and player development duties. In his one year with the Battling Bishops, Samuels helped lead the team to a 23-5 season, winning the both the regular season and USA South Athletic Conference championships. 

Prior to North Carolina Wesleyan, Samuels was an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Wingate for three seasons. He was involved with all aspects of the program, helping the Bulldogs to appearances in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) tournament.

Samuels played collegiately at NCAA Division II Coker for five seasons. In 106 games, Samuels accumulated three all conference selections, which includes an All-SAC Second Team citation. Additionally, he is third on the list of all-time leading rebounders and sixth on the leading scorer list. 

During his senior season, he accumulated a career-total of 1,000 points, scoring 17 points against Newberry in an 89-84 victory. Additionally, Samuels compiled 500 career rebounds in his collegiate career.

A native of Rocky Mount, N.C., Samuels also holds the all-time leading scorer record at Rocky Mount Prep High School, finishing with over 1,400 points and over 650 rebounds. To date, he is the only player in Rocky Mount Prep's history to score 1,000 points, a feat he accomplished as a junior.

Samuels resides in Superior with his girlfriend Cleo and daughter Zoe.
