Gus Nascimento enters his first year as the inaugural head coach of the Club Men's Soccer program in 2025. He was named to the position Apr. 29, 2025.
Nascimento is no stranger to Yellowjacket Athletics, serving as an assistant coach for the varsity men's soccer team under Joe Mooney for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Additionally, he was employed as an administrative assistant in the Office of Intercultural Student Success and later worked in the Registrar's Office alongside his assistant coaching duties.
Nascimento came to UW-Superior after serving as an assistant coach at Duluth East High School from 2018-2023 while also coaching with East Select Soccer Club. He further expanded his experience as an assistant men's soccer coach at Lake Superior College, and most recently as an assistant coach with Duluth FC during the 2025 season. His coaching education stems from various courses in his home country of Brazil, including an FA License from England and additional certifications after moving to the United States, including an USSF C License. Nascimento has also served as the director of coaching with Two Harbors Soccer Club and as an assistant with Superior City FC Women’s of the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL).
Collegiately, Nascimento played for the Lake Superior College IceHawks men's soccer team.
Nascimento graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from Lake Superior before transferring to UW-Superior, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in business and sports studies.
