Nick Piazza enters his first season as head coach for the Yellowjacket women's soccer team in 2025. He was named to the position June 25, 2025, becoming the ninth head coach dating back to the 1993 season.
Piazza is certainly no stranger to UW-Superior, having been on staff as an assistant coach for nine total seasons. The 2024 season marked his sixth season with the Yellowjacket men’s soccer team and his third with the women’s program, assisting with all facets of the program’s function.
A native of Fitchburg, Wis., Piazza played for two seasons at Madison College for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. He received All-Region 4 and All-North Central Community College Conference plaudits as a sophomore, ending his WolfPack career with 28 starts in 31 matches played. For his efforts, he was selected as Madison College's District Board Male Sportsperson of the Year in 2015.
After enrolling at UW-Superior in 2016, his efforts on the backline aided Superior to the program’s first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference postseason championship, alongside their first NCAA Division III Tournament appearance.
Following his graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science in 2017, Piazza embarked on his coaching career. He began with the men's soccer team at Superior and coached from 2018-22. Later he joined the women's soccer team as an assistant from 2021-22. During that time, he helped the men claim five Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) regular season and tournament championships while appearing in four NCAA Division III Tournaments. On the women's side, his coaching efforts led the 'Jackets to two NCAA Division III Tournaments after winning a pair of regular season and tournament titles.
Ahead of the 2023 season, Piazza returned to Madison College and joined the women's soccer staff for the year. While there, he aided the WolfPack to an appearance in the NJCAA Region 4 Tournament before returning to the Twin Ports for the 2024 campaign, assisting both the men's and women's programs.
Outside of coaching collegiately, Piazza has coached youth soccer and played a pivotal role in First Team Soccer Training, specializing in training the next generation of soccer players.
