Randy Hill enters his third season as an assistant coach with UW-Superior softball team in 2020. Hill brings a successful coaching and playing background to his position.
Prior to arriving at UW-Superior, Hill served as an assistant softball coach at the high school level for eight seasons at Esko High School (2004-07) and Hermantown High School (2008-10). With an emphasis on hitting and outfield play, Hill helped guide his teams to six conference championships and four Minnesota state high school tournaments, including both the 2009 MSHSL AA State Champions and the 2010 MSHSL AA State Runners-Up from at Hermantown. Hill coached four Duluth News Tribune Player-of-the-Year winners, 12 MFCA all-state selections, and helped 16 student-athletes reach the collegiate level.
Aside from coaching, Hill was also an accomplished fastpitch player. He is a five-time Amateur Softball Association ASA All-American as well as an International Softball Congress ISC All-World and North American Fastpitch Association NAFAÂ All-American selection. Hill was a member of two ASA National Championship teams, one NAFA World Series Championship team, and finished as high as fifth place at the ISC World Tournament. In all, Hill played in 12 ASA National Championships, eight ISC World Tournaments and five NAFA World Series.
Hill graduated from the Minnesota Duluth with a bachelor of arts degree in communications in 1983. There, Hill was the captain of the baseball team and a two-time All-NSIC First Team selection in the outfield. Upon graduation, Hill served one season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Bulldog baseball team.
Hill resides in Duluth with his wife Vicki. They have two children - Ryan and Lauren.
