Bre Simon is in her third season as head coach of the Yellowjacket women's hockey program in 2026-27. She was named to the position Apr. 30, 2024, becoming the sixth head coach in the program's history dating back to 1998.
Simon's Yellowjackets finished 4-22-1 in the 2025-26 season. Defensively, Superior boosted their blocked shots total from last season, finishing with 246 blocked shots compared to 214. She welcomed a trio of freshman goaltenders and they combined for a total of 831 saves from the opposition. Jayda Moyer, who saw 875 minutes in between the pipes, boosted herself to fifth place in the Yellowjacket record books with 529 saves in a single season.
In her first season behind the bench, Simon guided the 'Jackets to nearly doubling their goals from last season, lighting the lamp on 90 occasions compared to just 53. This mark now ranks eighth in program history, while also sitting eighth in total points (221), sixth in assists (131) and fifth in goaltender saves (744) in the Yellowjacket record book. Additionally, Simon mentored three players to receive postseason awards from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
Simon comes to the Yellowjackets after a two-year stint as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Elmira College. While there, Simon helped the Soaring Eagles to the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) championship game in 2023. This past season, Elmira finished as the national runner-up, falling in the NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Championship to UW-River Falls. Elmira had a 44-14-1 record in her two seasons.
Prior to her time at Elmira, Simon spent two years, including one year as co-head coach, of the girls hockey program at Minnesota high school hockey powerhouse Gentry Academy. In her two years Simon helped Gentry to a 41-11-0 record and two appearances in the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament, including one berth in the state championship game.
Simon was a decorated college player during her time at Hamline University. She is Hamline's all-time leader in goals (92), assists (93) and points (185). Her 185 points are more than double any other player in program history. She was a three-time CCM/AHCA West First Team All-American and in 2019 won the Laura Hurd Award, which is given to the top player in NCAA Division III women's hockey.
A native of Elk River, Minn., Simon graduated from Hamline in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in public health.
