Anthony Willette is in his fourth season as a full-time assistant coach for the men's and women's track and field programs in 2025-26. He was named to the position on Sept. 2, 2022.
No stranger to UWS track and field, Willette earned the promotion after spending 2021-22 in a part-time role, working primarily with the throwers. Willette began his coaching career as an assistant coach, working with the throwers at Duluth Denfeld High School in 2015.
A native of Wells, Minn., Willette was a member of the UWS men's track and field team from 2011-16. In 2014, he placed fifth in the hammer throw at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Then, in 2016, Willette earned postseason honors from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) in the weight throw during the indoor season and the hammer throw during the outdoor season, and in the process helped UW-Superior to its first-ever men's track and field conference title. Willette's hammer throw mark of 51.46 meters stood as the school record for several years, before being broken in 2019.
Willette was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Criminal Justice Club during his time as a student-athlete.
Willette graduated from UW-Superior in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in legal studies, with a concentration in criminal justice. Three years prior to joining the coaching staff in a full-time capacity, he was employed as a corrections officer, designated shift coordinator and field training officer with the Northeast Regional Corrections Center.
