Brenna Mattson is in her first season as an assistant women's soccer coach under head coach Nick Piazza in 2026.
Mattson is certainly no stranger to UW-Superior, having played for the Yellowjackets for four seasons as a defender. A four-year letterwinner, she claimed numerous postseason awards during her career, including two Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Defensive Player of the Year selections, two All-UMAC First Team selections, two College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors and being named a CSC Academic All-American in 2023.
On the Yellowjacket backline, she accumulated 6,449 minutes on the pitch during her career. Mattson played in 87 matches and started 79, scoring two goals and three assists for seven points.
A native of Cloquet, Minn., Mattson graduated from UW-Superior with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education in 2025.
