Hilda Nuutinen has been hired as the first head coach of the Women's Lacrosse program. She was named to the position May 22, 2025.
Nuutinen has been tasked with building the program from the ground up in preparation for its debut during the 2026-27 season. The women's lacrosse program will be an affiliate member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).Â
Nuutinen comes to UW-Superior after serving as the co-head coach of Hudson (Wis.) High School, overseeing every aspect of the program. Under her tutelage, she has guided the Raiders to a top ten rank in the state of Wisconsin every year she's been on staff. Additionally, she has served coaching stints with the Minnesota Chill and Homegrown Lacrosse.
A native of Hudson, Nuutinen spent three seasons at NCAA Division II Northern Michigan, playing in 20 games while starting six. She graduated from NMU in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations with a minor in German studies. She is currently working on a Master's Degree in sports management at Concordia St. Paul.
