J'Vaun Walker begins his first season as an assistant men's basketball coach under Greg Polkowski in 2026-27.
Walker is certainly no stranger to the hardwood, having played on the Yellowjacket men's basketball team from 2020-25. Regarded as one of the top players to have appeared at UW-Superior, his name is scattered throughout the program's record book, including first in games played (109) and steals (246), second in made field goals (568), and third in total points (1,553) and assists (289).
Throughout his career, he received at least one postseason award from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) each year. As a freshman he was named to the league's all-defensive team before being a two-time All-UMAC Second Team selection (2022-23, 2024-25) and an All-UMAC First Team honoree in 2023-24.
A native of Rosharon, Tex., Walker graduated from UW-Superior in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology pre-medicine. He later enrolled at St. Scholastica to further his education.
