The University of Wisconsin Superior had a trio of multi-point games including two-goal games from freshman forward
Eric Watson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Hammarskjold H.S.) (7) and junior midfielder
Reyman Solis (Kirkland, Ill./Huntley H.S.) (3) as the Yellowjackets rolled to a 5-0 victory over Martin Luther College in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Yellowjacket Soccer Complex.
UW-Superior (6-7-0, 5-1-0 UMAC) took another step towards locking up a UMAC Tournament berth with just two matches left on the conference slate. Watson got the scoring started for the Yellowjackets early with an assist by sophomore
Danny Kearns (Greenock, Scotland/Clydeview Academy) that put UWS up 1-0 at the 10:05 mark of the match. Solis would take on the first of his two scores of the day just 15 minutes later with an assist from senior midfielder
Gio Rodriguez (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Los Osos H.S.). UW-Superior would hold the 2-0 lead until the half, despite out-shooting Martin Luther (9-5-1, 4-2-1 UMAC) 15-1 in the half.
Twenty-five different Yellowjackets saw action in the game. Junior forward
Jon Bucklew (Somerset, Wis./Somerset H.S.) (5) and Watson added onto the UWS lead early in the second half, each with an unassisted tally at the 54:25 and 55:55 marks, respectively. Solis added his second goal and Kearns his second assist on the afternoon on a score that stretched the lead to 5-0 at 63:18. On the defensive side, UW-Superior did not allow a shot in the second half, out-shooting the Knights 16-0 and 6-0 on-target after the break. Senior
Ben Wilhelm (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area H.S.) drew his record even on the season at 6-6-0, splitting time between the pipes to combine for a shutout with sophomore
Josh Herd (Hamilton, Scotland/Calderside Academy).
Along with Wilhelm and Rodriguez, the Yellowjackets also celebrated the remainder of their senior class at halftime: forward
Ryan Wisdom (Hayward, Wis./Hayward), midfielders
Ryan Linsmayer (Dresser, Wis./Osceola),
Taylor Lissick (South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul), and
David Villani (Adelaide, South Australia/Rostrevor College), and defender
