The University of Wisconsin Superior came back from a 2-0 deficit early and a 3-2 deficit late to force overtime, but Hamline University scored two minutes into the extra session, knocking off the Yellowjackets 4-3 on Tuesday night in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The defeat marked the fifth straight for UW-Superior (3-6), as Hamline (6-1-2) went up 1-0 late in the first period getting a goal from Brandon Wahlin with just 59 seconds remaining before the first intermission. The Pipers added to that lead just 2:35 into the second period when Mitch Hall scored his first of two on the day, assisted by Wahlin and Russ Jordan, who had three assists on the day for Hamline. Sophomore
Daniel Litchke (Superior, Wis./Superior H.S.) started the comeback for the Yellowjackets at the 14:01 mark of the second, getting assists from sophomore
Viktor Sallhag (Vasteras, Sweden/Wenströmska Gymnasium) and senior

The Pipers brought the 2-1 lead to the locker room for the second intermission, but freshman
Jake Hamilton (Decatur, Ill./Nequa Valley H.S.) drew UWS even with his first of the year at 5:59 of the third, getting an assist from sophomore
Jared Dedenbach (Warren, Mich./Fargo South H.S.). Hall struck for his second of the night, this time assisted by Russ Jordan, to put Hamline up 3-2 at 11:35 of the third, but freshman

There, the Pipers would break through at the 62:00 mark of the game with a score from Brandon Reinholz, assisted by Garrett Schmitz and Tommy Hall, to end the Yellowjackets' attempt at a come-from-behind victory.
The two teams combined for just three penalties on the day, two coincidental in the second period, and UW-Superior finished 0-for-1 on the powerplay. Junior
