Five different Yellowjackets reached double digits scoring, but the University of Wisconsin Superior fell victim to a first-half flurry by Bethany Lutheran College as the Vikings picked up an 89-76 victory in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play on Friday night in Mankato, Minnesota.
UW-Superior (1-10, 0-4 UMAC) out-scored Bethany Lutheran (4-5, 2-2 UMAC) 42-41 in the second half, but could not overcome a 14-point deficit from the opening frame. The Vikings knocked down 17-of-32 shots in the first half, including hitting eight three-pointers en route to shooting 50.0 percent for the game with 13 threes. The Yellowjackets shot 47.2 percent in the second half, knocking down five three-pointers, but were 0-for-7 from beyond the arc in the first half and finished the game shooting 45.2 percent (33-of-73) overall.

Rafael Monteiro (São Paulo, Brazil/Santa Marcelina College) led the way with 18 points and six rebounds for the Yellowjackets, while sophomore
Montroy Scott (Fridley, Minn./Columbia Heights H.S.) had 13 points, freshman
Christian Sellers (Ontario, Calif./Colony H.S.) 11, and juniors
Shaq Coleman (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East H.S.) and
Andreas Preisler (Copenhagen, Denmark/Solrod Gymnasium) 10 each. Brady Rose scored a game-high 23 points for Bethany Lutheran while falling just one rebound shy of a double-double. He hit 9-of-12 shots on the night including 5-for-6 from three-point range. Brandy Frelix had 16 points for the Vikings.
