Despite the road team out-shooting Concordia (Minn.) College in the match, the scoring drought continued for the University of Wisconsin Superior as the Yellowjackets fell by a 2-0 score to the Cobbers in Moorhead, Minnesota on Friday.
UW-Superior (0-3-0) took 16 shots on the afternoon compared to 11 for Concordia Moorhead's (2-1-0). The Cobbers struck first in the 30th minute when Spencer Lancaster slipped a ball past the Yellowjacket goalkeeper, assisted by Sam Gess. That 1-0 score held through halftime, but nearly 11 minutes into the second half, Concordia scored once more, this time a score by Matthew Fulks just before the 56-minute mark.
Senior goalkeeper
Ben Wilhelm (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area H.S.) made four stops in the opening 60 minutes before being spelled by sophomore
Josh Herd (Hamilton, Scotland/Calderside Academy). Herd was tested quickly off the bench making a key save and pitched a shutout the rest of the way. Goalkeeper Glen Glogoza made 10 saves to shut out UW-Superior. Junior forward
Jon Bucklew (Somerset, Wis./Somerset H.S.) had three shots, all on-goal, while senior midfielder
Gio Rodriguez (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Los Osos H.S.) paced the Yellowjackets with four attempts on the afternoon.
