After going scoreless from beyond the arc in an even first half, the University of Wisconsin Superior knocked down six second-half three-pointers to pull away from the University of Minnesota Morris on Friday night at Mortorelli Gymnasium. The Yellowjackets claimed first place in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference by defeating the Cougars 81-72 in the UMAC Game of the Week.
UW-Superior (11-4, 7-0 UMAC) and UM-Morris (9-5, 6-1 UMAC) were knotted up at 34-all after the opening 20 minutes, with the Cougars scoring the majority of their points beyond the arc, where they were 4-of-11 in the first half, and at the free throw line, where they were 14-of-16 compared to the Yellowjackets who went just 2-for-3 at the line in the first half and 0-for-9 from the three point range. The Yellowjackets were hot from inside though, going 16-for-30 on two-point shots in the opening frame.
