The University of Wisconsin Superior scored a late powerplay goal but could not complete the comeback, falling 3-2 to Concordia College (R.V.) in Moorhead, Minnesota on Friday night.
UW-Superior (4-10-1) opened up its second half falling in non-conference play as Concordia (8-4-0) got on the board early in the first with Sam Coborn scoring just 2:46 into the opening frame. The Yellowjackets would tie up after the first intermission, with freshman
Liam Blais (Uxbridge, Ont./Uxbridge Secondary) scoring his first of the year at 7:05 of the second. He got assists from sophomore
Daniel Litchke (Superior, Wis./Superior H.S.) and senior
Anton Svensson (Sodertalje, Sweden/Igelstavikens Gymnasium).
The Cobbers regained the lead just under three minutes later with Mario Bianchi cashing in the first of his two points on the day, scoring with assists from Tanner Okeson and Ean Goos. Concordia would tack onto its lead with Bianchi assisted Jeremy Johnson just 38 seconds into the third period. Litchke would score his team-leading 12th goal of the season on the powerplay as UW-Superior tried to rally at 19:40 of the third. Senior

Ian Ecklund (Twig, Minn./Proctor H.S.) had the assists on the final goal.

Kyle Miller (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake H.S.) continued his strong play between the pipes for the Yellowjackets, making 18 saves before being pulled for an extra skater for the final 1:19, but Sam Nelson was just that much better, making 25 stops for the Cobbers. UWS finished 1-for-4 with the man advantage while Concordia would end its night 0-for-2 on the powerplay.
