SUPERIOR, Wis. (October 17, 2017) – Superior battled the UMAC leading Northwestern Eagles, scoring one goal to Northwestern's four in the home loss.
The Eagles scored first in the 17th minute off of a corner kick from the right side. The 'Jackets soon fired back five minutes later as
Britt Zieroth (Twig, Minn./Proctor) found the back of the net on a ball that was pushed up the right side of the box by
Liza Shelquist (Pine Island, Minn./Pine Island) and then fired in by Zieroth from about 12 yards out.
The Eagles would score once more in the first half to go up 2-1 at the half.
Northwestern would get another score at the beginning of the second half on a scramble for the ball in the box, going up 3-1. The 'Jackets had a few good chances in the second half, but were unable to find the goal. The Eagles scored one more in the 80th minute to seal the game 4-1.
Zieroth, Shelquist and
Danielle James (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) all got shots off for the Yellowjackets, while
Bailey Henderson (Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul) played 90 minutes in goal, making 10 saves.The 'Jackets were able to get two corner kicks on the day as well.
The 'Jackets will take on North Central this Saturday, Oct. 21, again at 1 p.m. at the NBC Sports Complex.
