UW-Superior 4, North Central 1
SUPERIOR, Wis. (October 21, 2017) – Superior took on the North Central Rams for the second time this season, after a non-conference matchup early in the season. The 'Jackets scored four goals on the day, including two from
Emma Street (Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis).
After almost the entire first period, the Yellowjackets broke through the Rams' defense, as Street scored in the 40th minute on an assist from
Liza Shelquist (Pine Island, Minn./Pine Island). Street then fired back in the next minute unassisted to put the 'Jackets up 2-0.
The Rams scored a goal in the 45th minute to make it 2-1 at halftime.
The Yellowjackets would get on the board again in the second half, as
Britt Zieroth (Twig, Minn./Proctor) scored unassisted in the 60th minute to hold the lead at 3-1.
Hailey Kontny (Superior, Wis./Superior) would fire a shot in the 74th minute that would be waived off by the officials, and then score on practically a same play in the 75th minute. Zieroth would send a corner kick to the middle of the box and Konty would score on a header to seal the game at 4-1.
Zieroth would finish with four shots, Street with three, while
Chloe Schmaltz (Beaumount, Alta./Escole Secondaire Beaumont Composite) and Shelquist each had two.
Bailey Henderson (Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul) would play all 90 minutes in goal, making seven saves.
Superior will take on the Northland College Lumberjills Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. in the NBC Sports Complex.
