Five 'Jackets score in 6-2 win over Rams

UW-Superior 6, North Central 2

SUPERIOR, Wis. (October 21, 2017) – The Yellowjackets had five players score six goals, five in the second half, in a blowout of the North Central Rams at the NBC Sports Complex.

Eric Watson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Hammarskjold) opened the first half with his tenth goal of the season in the 27th minute, on a flick over the goalie, assisted by Adrian Leal (Alicante, Spain/IES Cabo de la Huerta). The Rams would find the back of the net in the 37th minute to tie 1-1, and then again on a penalty kick in the 42nd minute to take a 2-1 lead at halftime.

The Yellowjackets would tie the game up two minutes into the second half as Leal found the goal, assisted by Jon Bucklew (Somerset, Wis./Somerset), on shot deflected by the Rams' goalie and shot back in.

The Yellowjackets took the lead in the 60th minute as Harry Simpson (Derby, England/Derby Moor C.C.) scored on a free kick sent in from Mualigbe Keita (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Prairie Seeds Academy) to the right post, which was deflected and then shot in.

Watson would double-up the score in the 72nd minute on a header after Fernando Bicalho (Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil/Kickapoo (Mo.)) assisted on the free kick from the 30 yard line.

Blake Doyea (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) would score his seventh goal of the season after stealing the ball from the last Ram defender around the 25 yard line. Gunnar O'Neill-Sengbush (Duluth, Minn./Marshall School) would score in the 83rd minute, assisted by Bucklew, to score the fifth goal of the half; sealing the 6-2 Yellowjacket win.

Superior would produce 26 shots to the Rams' eight, 23 of which came in the second half for the 'Jackets. Dalton VonKaenel (Eagan, Minn./Eagan H.S.) would play all 90 minutes in goal, making two saves.

The Yellowjackets will continue their home stand Oct. 25 again at 3:15 p.m. for a contest with the Northland College Lumberjacks.
