UW-Superior 2, Crown 1

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. (October 7, 2017) – Two Yellowjacket got their first goals of the season as Superior beat Crown College for the second time this season.

The Yellowjackets scored first, as Emily Roe (Blaine, Wash./Blaine (Wash.)) recorded her first goal of the season on an unassisted shot in the 36th minute. Superior would clamp down defensively in the first period, allowing no shots from Crown to end the half up 1-0.

The second half goal was also a first, as Danielle James (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) scored in the 62nd minute on a pass from Hailey Kontny (Superior, Wis./Superior). The Storm would score in the next minute to make the game 2-1, but Superior would hold on to win.

Sky Brown (Lenore, Man./Virden Collegiate Institute) got her first start in goal for the Yellowjackets, making two saves in 90 minutes. Superior outshot the Storm 23-3, including 14 shots on goal.

The Yellowjackets will play at home this week, taking on Bethel Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at the NBC Sports Complex.
