The University of WIsconsin Superior honored
Bailee Bartunek (Audobon, Minn./Lake Park-Audobon H.S.) at halftime of her final regular season home game at Mortorelli Gym, and the junior forward, graduating after this season, led the Yellowjackets to victory in round two of the team's bridge battle with the College of St. Scholastica, defeating the Saints 94-72 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action on Saturday in Superior.
Bartunek posted a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds while also adding six steals, five assists, and a block against the Saints. UW-Superior (19-4, 14-0 UMAC) would lead by just one halfway through the third quarter at 51-50 but scored nine consecutive points from the closing minutes of the third into the first of the fourth to extend the lead into double digits at 71-53. It was all Yellowjackets in the fourth as they out-scored St. Scholastica (7-15, 5-9 UMAC) 29-14 in the final frame.
Five players hit double figures for UWS, with junior guard
Hailey Kontny (Superior, Wis./Superior H.S.) leading the way with 18 points. First-year guard
Emily Carpenter (St. Peter, Minn./St. Peter H.S.) and sophomore
Hannah Norlin (Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield H.S.) each had 13 points while junior guard
Amelia Leger (Andover, Minn./Andover H.S.) had 11 points. Michala Walter and Mel Weisbrick each had 18 points in a start for St. Scholastica, but Sam Brannen had 20 points off the bench for the Saints. The Yellowjackets shot 53.2 percent for the game, while St. Scholastica finished at 47.5 percent.

UW-Superior will close out the UMAC regular season on the road next week, with the Yellowjackets traveling to Crown College next Friday night for the first game of the road weekend. Opening tip is set for 5:30 p.m. preceding the men's contest.
