The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh scored four early runs and held on to hand the University of Wisconsin Superior its first defeat of the 2017 season on Saturday afternoon at the Finlandia Dome Classic in Marquette, Michigan.

Sophomore first baseman Kaitlyn Krol knocked in the first two runs of the day for UW-Oshkosh (3-0), plating runs in each of her first two plate appearances to give the Titans an early lead. A triple and an infield error led to a 4-0 lead for Oshkosh after the top of the fourth. UW-Superior (1-1) struck for a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth after junior Katie White (Pequot Lakes, Minn./Pequot Lakes H.S.) singled with one out, crossing to third on a double by sophomore infielder Bailey Armstrong (Scandia, Minn/Forest Lake H.S.). White and senior pinch-runner Shelby Gerken (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo H.S.) each came around to score on a wild pitch by Titans junior right-hander Clare Robbe (2-0).

First-year lefty Clare Petrus (1) came on to toss the final three innings for UW-Oshkosh, holding the Yellowjackets scoreless on two hits in three innings. Petrus and Robbe each collected three strikeouts on the day. First-year right-hander Megan Pehrson (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids H.S.) worked a complete game for UW-Superior, striking out eight while allowing just three earned on nine hits. Freshman infielder Bobbi Jean Miller (Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis H.S.) went 2-for-2 with a walk to lead the Yellowjackets at the plate. UW-Superior mustered just six hits as a team.

The Yellowjackets will be back in action at the Finlandia Dome Class on Sunday morning in Marquette. UW-Superior will take on Marian University at 10 a.m. ET before closing out the tournament against Concordia University - Wisconsin at 12 p.m. ET.
