The University of Wisconsin Superior was held scoreless in a doubleheader to wrap up the three-game series against the University of Chicago, falling 1-0 and 6-0 on the road at J. Kyle Anderson Field in Chicago, Illinois.
UW-Superior (2-12) got a pair of doubles, one each from
Nik Mattson (Superior, Wis./Superior H.S.) and
Matthew Boyde (Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka H.S.), but just three total hits against UChicago (11-4) in the first game of the day. Senior right-hander
Richard Vanden Branden (Neenah, Wis./St. Mary Central H.S.) (0-3) worked a complete game-effort, allowing just the lone first-inning run after a pair of singles and a steal helped the Maroons plate the game's only score.Â
Vanden Branden scattered five hits on the day, while Joe Liberman worked six complete, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out three for UChicago. He handed the ball to Nate Hendley, who allowed one hit but picked up his first save of the year to maintain the shutout of the Yellowjackets.

Trevor Stone (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn H.S.) (1-1) after five innings. Stone struck out two while allowing five earned on 10 hits. He handed the ball to junior lefty
Brady Stocker (River Falls, Wis./River Falls H.S.), who allowed one run on three hits while striking out one in the final inning of the day. Jacob Petersen (3-0) held UW-Superior scoreless for the second consecutive game, allowing four hits while striking out five. The Yellowjackets put two on in the final inning against Ricardo Fernandez, but a pair of strikeouts helped the Maroons maintain the shutout.

Cory Albertson (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater H.S.) had two of UW-Superior's six singles on the day. The Yellowjackets had two hits in the third inning, but did nto advance a man past second base in the nightcap.
