UW-Superior 1, Minnesota Morris 1
MORRIS, Minn. (September 16, 2017) – Jacket soccer's first UMAC contest ended in a 1-1 draw Saturday as they faced the Minnesota Morris Cougars on the road.
Superior put on yet another offensive attack, putting up nine shots in the first half, compared to the Cougars' two. But even with on onslaught of shots, they were unable to find the back of the net.
Minnesota Morris scored first at the start of the second half, to go up 1-0. The Yellowjackets would then add 13 shots in the second half, until Fernando Bicahlo found next in the 84th minute on a free kick just outside the box.
The teams would play two 10-minute overtime periods, but neither team would connect on goal.
Eric Watson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Hammarskjold) shot the ball six times, while
Jon Bucklew (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) and
Danny Kearns (Greenock, Scotland/Clydeview Academy) each had four.
Josh Herd (Hamilton, Scotland/Calderside Academy) made three saves for the 'Jackets on six Morris shots.
Superior will take on another UMAC opponent this Tuesday Sept. 19 as they take on Crown College at 2:45 pm in the NBC Sports Complex.
