MANKATO, Minn. (September 16, 2017) – The Yellowjackets grabbed two wins this weekend, as they took played two matches at Bethany Lutheran College in their UMAC opener.
The team won six straight sets, first beating North Central. Against the Rams,
Ashley Runck (Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley ) was on the attack, amassing 10 kills, followed by freshman
Elise Ertl (Phillips, Wis./Phillips) who had nine.
Emily VerWay (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) connected on 31 assists for the Yellowjackets.
Superior was again no match for their opponent in the second game.
Brylee Colligan (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji ) led the team with eight kills and
Mara Cameron (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) saw action, getting five. VerWay and
Mackenzie Dahlin (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna ) were both clicking from the service area, having three and two aces respectively. Colligan was also a leader defensively, notching 12 digs.
The Yellowjackets will continue their conference play this week as they host a triangular of their own this Tuesday Sept 19, taking on St. Scholastica and Northland College, beginning at 3 p.m.
