Superior 1-1 after triangular at Crown College

UW-Superior 3, Crown 0 | Morris 3, UW-Superior 0

ST. BONAFACIOUS, Minn. (September 23, 2017) – The 'Jackets came away one win and one loss after traveling to host Crown College for a double-head with the Storm and Minnesota Morris Cougars.

In their first match, the 'Jackets took on host Crown College, and defeated them in three straight sets. In the first set, Superior jumped out to an early 9-4 lead after a Brylee Colligan (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji ) kill who was assisted by Emily Verway. They sealed the match on a Crown timeout that then led to an error from the Storm, ending 25-13. The two following matches were much of the same, to give the Yellowjackets two more set wins. VerWay was the main setter in the match, getting 34 assists on 39 kills for the 'Jackets. Colligan had nine kills, and Ashley Runck (Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley ) and Mara Camera had eight kills each. Mackenzie Dahlin (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna ) had 15 digs in the match.

The second match was a different story, as they fell to the Morris Cougars three sets to none. Superior managed 23 kills to the Cougars 49, while Cameron led the Yellowjackets with five kills. VerWay was the leader in assists once again with 19. Dahlin had nine digs in the second match.

The Yellowjackets will be on the road this week as they take on Northwestern and Martin Luther on Wednesday Sept. 27 in New Ulm, Minn. and then again back to Crown to play the Storm Saturday Sept. 30.
