PLYMOUTH, WIS. (September 3, 2017) – The Yellowjacket women's soccer team fell victim to Lakeland University in their opening game of the 2017-18 season.

The Yellowjackets held the Muskies off in the first half with good mixture of offense and defense, including three shots from Superior to Lakelands four. But after three minutes into the second half, the Muskies scored on a lobbed ball from Alex Gill from the right side that Makenna Waller found to strike off the left post and in.

The Yellowjackets couldn't find the net, even though they offered up eight shots in the second period to outshoot the Muskies 11 to 10. Liza Shelquist (Pine Island, Minn./Pine Island) offered up four shots on the day, while Sarah Fjeran (Duluth, Minn./Marshall School) had two, and five other 'Jackets had one each.

The 'Jacket women's team will continue their road game streak as they travel to Minneapolis to play in a non-conference matchup against the North Central Rams Tuesday Sept. 5.
