UW-Superior 3, Bethany Lutheran 1

MANKATO, Minn. (September 30, 2017) – The Yellowjackets grabbed their third conference win Saturday as they faced off against the Bethany Lutheran Vikings in a road contest. The 'Jackets scored three goals and allowed one.

Superior started quickly, scoring in the 10th minute, as Eric Watson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Hammarskjold) found the net after an assist from Jon Bucklew (Somerset, Wis./Somerset). Bucklew then continued his assisting ways as he found Adrian Leal (Alicante, Spain/IES Cabo de la Huerta) for a second score in the 20th minute. Superior would find themselves on top at the end of the first half 2-0.

They found the net again in the 74th minute as Jonah Garcia (Eagan, Minn./Eagan H.S.) netted the ball unassisted. Bethany Lutheran scored their only goal of the game in the 88th minute to end the contest with Superior winning 3-1.

Superior more than doubled the Vikings shots, firing 19 shots, eight of them on net. Five cards were also given in the tough contest. Dalton VonKaenel (Eagan, Minn./Eagan H.S.) made three saves in 79 minutes in goal, Ulrick Lager made a save in the 11 minutes towards the end of the contest.

Superior will head across the fresh-water pond next week as they play Scholastica Tuesday Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.
