UW-Superior 3, Crown 0
ST. BONAFACIOUS (September 30, 2017) – The Yellowjackets faced off against the Crown College Storm on their home court for the second time this season, and once again took the win.
The Yellowjackets seemed to fall behind in every set that they played, but managed to comeback in each one and win in three straight sets. The first set began with the 'Jackets down 5-1, but soon stormed back to take a 15-14 lead after an
Anna Ribich (Biwabik, Minn./Mesabi East) kill that was assisted by
Emily VerWay (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley). Superior never let up after this point, winning the set 25-19 on an attack error from the Storm.
The second set was much of the same, the set ended with six straight Yellowjackets points to win 25-16.
The third set was the toughest of the match. Crown looked to have the set in control putting the Yellowjackets in a 13-2 hole to start the game, but somehow, Superior found a way to win. Five straight points brought the game to 14-8 after Ribich and
Ashley Runck (Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley ) blocked the net for a score. Superior caught up 23-20, and then hit the Storm hard to once again to score six straight points to win the match 25-23.
VerWay added 35 assists to her season list, while Runck led the team with 11 kills, followed by
Brylee Colligan (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji ) who had 10. VerWay also led the team with 15 digs in the game;
Mackenzie Dahlin (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna ) was close behind with 12.
