ARDEN HILLS, MINN. (September, 6, 2017) - The Yellowjackets were firing on all offensive cylinders once again, as they competed in their first road contest of the season against Bethel University.
They 'Jackets came out early, scoring in the first half.
Hugo Roos (Halmstad, Sweden/Aspero Idrottsgymnasium) found the goal in the 24th minutes after
Gunnar O'Neill-Sengbush (Duluth, Minn./Marshall School) crossed the ball on a corner kick to give Roos the opening to head the ball on the the far right corner. Superior would then find themselves up 1-0 at the half.
In the second half,
Eric Watson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Hammarskjold) provided the insurance goal in the 54th minute on another assist from Sengbush. But the Yellowjackets weren't done yet. In the last 10 minutes of the game,
James Bruce (Gladstone, Mich./Gladstone) and
Blake Doyea (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) scored a pair of goals to put the game away. Doyea's was another beautiful header after a sideline throw in from Puntos Taavemark.
The 'Jacket defense played tremoundly in this game, allowing only five shots, and only one toatal on goal.
The Yellowjackets will face another MIAC school in Macalester at home this Friday Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. as they looked to keep the offense firing and get another win.
