Superior drops games with Northwestern Ohio and Tufts

Northwestern Ohio 20, UW-Superior 1 | Tufts 4, UW-Superior 1

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 21, 2018) – The Yellowjackets saw a barrage of hits in their two games Wednesday, dropping two contests with the Northern Ohio Racers and the Tufts Jumbos.

Game 1

There wasn't much to see from the 'Jackets in their game with the Racers, as Superior put together four hits for one score in the fourth inning. Katie White (Pequot Lakes, Minn./Pequot Lakes) would reach on an error and Saige Patrick (Steinbach, Man./St. Mary's Academy) roped a single to second. The bases were loaded after Bobbijjean Miller singled to right center, and then Gabby Gidley (Superior, Wis./Superior) was hit by pitch to score White.

The Racers would add enough runs to call the game in just five innings.

Game 2

The second game would see a 'Jacket score in the first inning. Maggie Cragg (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) would single to shortstop and then steal second to get into scoring position. A ground ball from Alayna Tulip (Arcadia, Wis./Arcadia) would move Cragg to third followed by a White single to left to score Cragg.

Macy Hanson (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg) pitched well moving forward, getting four strikeouts, but the Jumbos would add a four-run inning in the fifth. Superior couldn't get their bats moving in the final two innings, surrendering a 4-1 game.

Up Next
