SUPERIOR, Wis.:Â The UW-Superior men's basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak Saturday at Mertz Mortorelli Gym, sneaking past North Central in overtime, 92-91.

John Pioro (Proctor, Minn./Proctor) forced overtime with a 3-pointer from the corner at the buzzer ending regulation. Superior then led by as many as four with 2:58 remaining in the extra session, as
Mac Reykdal (Washburn, Wis./Washburn) knocked down a trey.

North Central's Jaxon Kavanaugh hit a free throw to cut it to an 89-86 game and Jared High followed with a jumper. Then, Reykdal hit a layup with 1:20 left to make it 91-88. On the next possession, Micah Filer canned a triple for the tie with 1:02 left.Â

After a Rams timeout and Jack Martin turnover, Filer fouled
Montroy Scott (Fridley, Minn./Columbia Heights), who hit a free throw with 10 seconds left for the lead and the 'Jackets hung on for the win.Â

Scott scored a career-high 33 points and Reykdal added 26 as Superior moved to 3-13 on the season and 2-6 in the UMAC. North Central dropped to 4-11 and 0-7 in the league.

The Yellowjackets jumped out to a 34-19 lead in the first 11 minutes of the game before North Central inched its way back into it, trailing by just eight points, 41-33, at halftime. UWS led by 10 with 15 minutes to play but the Rams kept themselves in the thick of things, taking the lead at 73-71 for the first time with 4:10 to play in the second half, setting the stage of the last-second shot by Pioro.

Carter Brown (Eau Claire. Wis./Regis Catholic) drew his second consecutive start and didn't disappoint, scoring 17 points and adding a game-high-tying nine rebounds and two assists.Â

The 'Jackets shot 45.3 percent from the field from the game, including nearly 47 percent from distance. UWS knocked down a season-high 15 3-pointers.

The Rams got 31 points apiece from High and Filer to the lead the NCU comeback effort. High added nine rebounds for NCU, which won the boards by a 40-39 count for the game.

Superior plays its final non-conference game Monday, hosting Finlandia at 7 p.m. UWS won the first meeting between the two to open the season in the Merrill Thompson Classic in November.Â
