ST. PETER, Minn.: Ninth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus scored three times in the second period and goaltenders Paige Press and Amelia Helms-Leslie combined to shut out the UW-Superior women's hockey team, 4-0, Tuesday at Don Roberts Ice Rink.
Press started and made 11 saves, while Helms-Leslie played the third period, turning away seven Yellowjacket shots. Four Gusties tallied multiple points, led by Lilia Scheid with a goal and two assist. Allie Stanger posted a goal and assist, and Kayla Vrieze and Stephanie Anderson contributed two assists apiece.

Catherine Johnson (Lakeville, Minn./St. Paul Academy) stopped 31 shots for the 'Jackets, who fell to 7-11-1 with the loss.
Gustavus (9-4-2) opened the scoring at 6:28 of the second period as Hannah Kobienia's shot from the point found its way through a maze of players in the front of the next and by Johnson. Scheid assisted on the first goal of the season for Kobienia.
Stanger doubled the Gusties' lead, scoring just nine seconds into a power play, again on a point shot. Strangler's seventh of the season was assisted by Vrieze and Scheid at 12:07.
Amelia Vosen scored just 2:09 later, popping a rebound home for a 3-0 lead. Anderson took the initial shot, which Johnson stopped, but Vosen was there to clean it up at 14:16. Vrieze also assisted on the fifth goal of the year for Vosen.
Scheid scored the Gusties' second power-play goal of the night, from Anderson and Stranger, at 18:46 of the third period for the final margin.
Megan Dulong (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) and
Molly Shelton (Pine Island, Minn./Pine Island) fired three shots each to lead the Superior offense.
Gustavus finished 2-for-3 on the power play and UWS was 0-for-2.
The Yellowjackets next play a home-and-home series with UW-Eau Claire, hosting the Blugolds Friday at 7 at Wessman Arena before traveling to Hobbs Ice Arena for a 2 p.m., Saturday start.
