SUPERIOR, Wis.: Yellowjacket Athletics has announced that tickets are now on sale for the Ninth Annual Beer and Wine Showcase, which will be held Thursday, February 14 in the Great Lakes Ballroom at Barkers Island Inn. The showcase will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets for the event will include hors d'oeuvres, prizes and a silent auction. The price for all tickets is $25 and they can be purchased from any UW-Superior student-athlete, at the UW-Superior athletics office (Marcovich Wellness Center, Room 2408), as well as on the night of the event. Tickets are also available online through the
event's registration page. The number of tickets available is limited to 350.
A number of local brewers and distributors will be present at the showcase. In addition to mainstays Superior Beverages, Keyport Liquor, and Northwest Beverage who have been part of the event from its inception, Bent Paddle Brewing Company (Duluth), Castle Danger Brewing (Two Harbors), Earth Rider Brewery (Superior), and South Shore Brewery (Ashland) will also be present.
"The feedback we've received regarding our event has been nothing but positive from the very beginning. It is one of the events that both community members and our vendors look forward to each year," said UW-Superior Athletics Director
Nick Bursik. "We've seen some great growth over the past couple of years and we're excited to host what we think will be our best beer and wine showcase to date."
Local businesses, university alumni, and private citizens have once again stepped up to donate items to be given away as door prizes or sold in the silent auction.
"There are a lot of people who have a hand in making this event successful. From the athletes helping to sell tickets, to the people and organizations that donate silent auction prizes to our athletics and university staff, everyone plays a role," Bursik said. "And we wouldn't be able to do the showcase we do without the help of our local partners, especially Barkers Island Inn and their catering department, Northwest Beverage, Mark Casper and Keyport Liquor and Gary Warmington and Superior Beverages. Without their help this event isn't possible."
A list of brewers and silent auction items is available online through the
event's information page. All proceeds from the event benefit Yellowjacket Athletics.
