MANKATO, Minn. – Junior
Emma Street (Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis) scored in the 67th minute to lift the UW-Superior women's soccer team to its second consecutive victory, 2-1, over Bethany Lutheran on Saturday.
Street's third goal of the season helped UWS continue its best start to conference play in history at 3-0-0 and improve to 4-7-2 overall.
On the goal, Street's initial shot glanced off the crossbar. She collected the rebound and put it past goalkeeper Leah Sonnenberg for the lead.
The Yellowjackets broke on top just 6:40 into the contest on an own goal by Bethany Lutheran (6-7-0, 2-2-0 UMAC).
The Vikings' Maddie Perry equalized in the 40th minute, beating
Morgan Philliber (Apple Valley, Minn./Edina) from the right side. Philliber started and made three saves for UWS before giving way to
Madison Gutekunst (Mound, Minn./Mound Westonka) in the second half.
Following the go-ahead goal, Gutekunst made three saves to keep UWS in front. She stopped Perry in the 69th and 85th minutes and Mindy Pitzner in the 80th minute.
Gutekunst earned her fourth win of the season in the victory. Sonnenberg made four saves in the loss.
Superior next travels to Crown Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
