ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The UW-Superior men's soccer team received goals from six different players in a 6-0 shutout of Crown at Old National Bank Stadium Tuesday.
The 'Jackets scored three times in the first half in 14:04 and struck for three more in the second half.
With the win, UWS improved to 10-3-2 overall and 6-0-0 in the UMAC. The 'Jackets have now outscored the opposition, 33-2, in the league after their third consecutive 6-0 victory.
Senior
Eric Watson (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Hammarskjold) opened the scoring with his 11th goal of the year 5:51 into the match from
Felix Blick (Linkoping, Sweden/Katedralskolan). Junior
Pontus Tavemark (Taeby, Sweden/Taeby Enskilden Gymnasium) made it 2-0 with his second at 14:14 off of an assist by
Miguel Ocampo (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park). Senior
Blake Doyea (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) pushed it a 3-0 lead at 19:55. That goal was assisted by
A.J. Olson (Channhassen, Minn./Channhassen) for one of his two helpers on the day.
UWS outshot Crown, 28-2, in the half and 48-6 for the match. Shots Superior controlled shots on goal, 18-2, in the contest.
Ocampo hooked up with Olson in the 50th minute for his fourth goal of the season. Senior
Flavio Hattori (Sao Jose do Rio Preto, Brazil/Anglo) buried a penalty kick in the 63rd minute for his first career goal before classmate
Gustavo Barbieri (Florianópolis, Brazil/Colégio Tendência) scored in the 81st for the final margin. Freshman
Brandon Conklin (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) earned his first collegiate point with an assist on the play;
Abel Vaudo (Sete, France/Armstrong) got the second assist.
Junior
Payton Anderson (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) made two saves to pick up his second shutout, improving 4-1-0. Foster Bowning and Erik Mills split time for the Storm with Browning getting the start and making five saves. Mills played the second half and stopped seven shots.
Crown fell to 2-10-2 overall and 0-3-1 in the league with the loss.
UWS returns home to face Minnesota Morris Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
