ORLANDO, Fla.: Competing with just four players, Pikeville topped the UW-Superior men's tennis team at the USTA National Campus Friday.
The Yellowjackets battled in 90-degree temperatures and fell doubles, 2-1, despite
Gavin Mangan (Henderson, Nev./Basic Academy) and
Petar Bulatovic (Podgorica, Montenegro/Lee Academy) earning a win by default on court three.
Bulatovic played a strong match at No. 4 singles, dispatching Kenton Hall, 6-2, 6-4.
Pikeville's Mantyn Icke beat
Josiah Borst (Becker, Minn./Becker) at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-3, while Juan Diego Medina topped
Will Sherman (Baton Rouge, La./St. Michael), 6-1, 6-1 on court two.
Brady Anderson and Carter Lamont took default wins to account for the final margin.
The 'Jackets return to the court, playing Western New England Sunday at 10:30 a.m, at Lake Cane Tennis Center.
