SUPERIOR, Wis.: The University of Wisconsin-Superior and Yellowjacket Athletics will be hosting the 2019 Alumni and Friends Golf Outing Friday, July 19 at Nemadji Golf Course in Superior. This year marks the event's 33rd year of raising money for Yellowjacket Athletics.

"Our golf outing remains one of the strongest golf outings in the area and we are looking forward to hosting it again and coupling it with another great UW-Superior Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony," said UW-Superior Athletics Director Nick Bursik. "It's always exciting for us as a department when we have the chance to bring people that mean so much to Yellowjacket Athletics back to campus and the community of Superior."

This year's golf outing will begin with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. Cost to enter the scramble is $75 per golfer and $375 per five-person team. The registration fee includes two carts per team, proximity prizes, a gift, and post-outing meal. A skins game is available at an additional cost.

Flag sponsorships are once again available at a cost of $120, and you receive the flag after the tournament. Hole sponsorship signs are available for $75.

Over the past two years Yellowjacket Athletics has made a committment to providing strength and conditioning services to all student-athletes. A strength and conditioning coach was hired during the 2018-19 year, and proceeds from this year's golf outing will go toward outfitting the new weight room with much needed equipment.

"In the past we've been able to use funds raised through the golf outing to help us purchase major equipment items our programs need, like skate sharpeners for the hockey teams and a new shoot around for the basketball teams as well as needed laundry equipment in our facility. We've also used funds to assist with our department's branding and messaging, all of which helps enhance the experience of our student-athletes," Bursik said. "This year we have a need to purchase more equipment that can be used in our new weight room, so golfers will know the monies we're raising now will touch the lives of every one of our student-athletes."
