ASHLAND, Wis. – Freshman Charles Martin (Blainville, Quebec/École internationale Lucille-Teasdale) shot an 8-over-par 80 to finish in a tie for second, lead the UW-Superior men's golf team at the Northland College Invite at Chequamegon Bay Golf Club Wednesday.
 
The Yellowjackets finished second overall with a 54-over 342, five strokes better than host Northland and 33 better than North Central. St. Scholastica won the team title, firing a 39-over 327 on the day. 
 
The Saints' Michael Talbot nipped Martin and Spencer Viita by one stroke for individual medalist honors. Martin's round was the lowest of his five this season by three shots.
 
Freshman Coltin Mitchell (Cass Lake, Minn./Cass Lake-Bena) was one shot behind Martin with an 81 to tie for fourth. Playing as an individual, sophomore Jordan Nevin (Barron, Wis./Barron) shot 86 to tie for seventh. Freshman Michael Schintz (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) shot 87, trying for 13th.
 
Austin Sears (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) shot 94, Bryce Wainio (Mountain Iron, Minn./Mountain Iron-Buhl ) 95 and Tyler Johnson (Solon Springs, Wis./Northwestern), as an individual, shot 103, rounding out the UWS contingent.
 
The 'Jackets are back in action at the Midwest Region Classic in Galena, Ill., Friday and Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
