RIVER FALLS, Wis. – Mariah Troje scored two goals for UW-River Falls as the Falcons defeated the IW-Superior women's soccer team, 3-0, at the UWRF Soccer Stadium Monday.
Troje opened the scoring with a penalty-kick goal in the 27th minute and added an insurance marker in the 51st, assisted by Rachel Windingstad. Maggie Koehler made it 2-0 in the 30th minute.
UWS goalkeepeers sophomore
Madison Gutekunst (Mound, Minn./Mound Westonka) and junior
Morgan Philliber (Apple Valley, Minn./Edina) split time in the nets with Gutekunst getting the start. She made eight saves and Philliber stopped 11.
Senior
Tatum Lardinois (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) took the Yellowjackets' only shot on goal, which goalie Haley Crosby stopped.
The Falcons (6-1-0) took 44 shots on the day, with 22 on target. UWRF also had nine corner kicks.
Superior (1-4-3) returns home to face Bethel Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.
