SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Superior volleyball team split on the first day of the Subway Stinger Classic Friday, sweeping Finlandia after dropping a five-set decision to St. Scholastica at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.

The Yellowjackets dispatched Finlandia in just 43 minutes by scores of 25-8, 25-12 and 25-8 to improve to 2-5 on the season. UWS hit .403 against Lions with 42 kills against 11 errors.Â

Freshman
Teah Roszkowiak (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) finished with a match-high 10 kills, adding digs and a block. Junior
Elise Ertl (Phillips, Wis./Phillips) had five kills on nine swings to go with 10 digs and two service aces. As a team, UWS collected 14 aces.

The 'Jackets limited Finlandia (0-4) to a -0.62 attack percentage on eight kills and 12 errors in 64 attempts.Â

Against CSS,
Cami Sletta (Willmar, Minn./Willmar Senior) tallied a career-best 24 kills while hitting .422.
Megan Holz (Savage, Minn./Burnsville) and
Cassy Teff (Foley, Minn./Foley) combined for 55 of the team's 65 assists. Teff and
Brylee Colligan (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) each recorded double-double on the day. Teff went for 27 assists and 18 digs, just missing her second triple-double of the year with nine kills. Colligan collected 30 digs and 10 kills. Freshman
Lexi Oeltjen (Lake Elmo, Minn./Stillwater Area) also had a career-high 11 kills and seven digs.

The 'Jackets won the first (25-23) and third (30-28) sets, with St. Scholastica prevailing in the second (26-24), fourth (25-15) and fifth (15-13) to take the match.

The tournament concludes with three matches Saturday. Nebraska Wesleyan and Crown square off at 10 a.m., before UWS and NWU play at noon. Crown and Superior close things out at 2 p.m.
