Vid Milenkovic (Zurich, Switzerland/DSB Belgrade (Serbia)) added 20 points and 11 rebounds as the UW-Superior men's basketball team knocked off Crown, 80-74, Saturday at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.
The 'Jackets shook of their first conference loss Wednesday at Northwestern shooting 50 percent from the field and 44 percent from distance.
Allen Anderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo) added 13 points and eight boards as Superior completed a season sweep of Crown, moving to 11-7 and 8-1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. Milenkovic collected his fifth consecutive double-double, as well.
UWS led by 12 at halftime, 39-27, before the Storm climbed its way back into the game. Crown (5-11, 4-5 UMAC) outscored Superior by six in the second half and retook the lead on a Gunnar Ledin 3-pointer with 4:44 to play, making it a 66-64 game.
Milenkovic then scored the 'Jackets' next six points for a 70-68 lead with three minutes left. Ledin hit a free throw to pull one back a minute later, but Vogel answered with two straight treys, assisted by
Mac Reykdal (Washburn, Wis./Washburn) and Anderson, respectively, to keep the lead for good. UWS was 4-fo-6 at the line in the final minute to secure the win.
Tim Wendel paced the Storm with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Ledin had 12 points and Christian Moore added 11.
The 'Jackets outrebounded Crown, 31-25, and turned 10 Storm turnovers into s16 points.
Superior returns to action Wednesday, hosting Northland at 5:30 p.m.
