SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Superior women's soccer team scored three goals seven minutes apart in the first half and cruised to a 5-0 victory over North Central at NBC Spartan Sports Complex on Friday.
The Yellowjackets received goals from four different players to run their winning streak to 11 matches and improve to 13-3-0 overall and 10-0-0 in the UMAC. Sophomore forward
Allison Alessi (Shakopee, Minn./Prior Lake) scored two goals for the second consecutive match, collecting her sixth and seventh tallies of the season, and the Superior defense stood tall, not allowing a single shot attempt to North Central.
Alessi opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with an assist from junior
Kenzie Oehlerking (Farmington, Minn./Farmington Area) before senior
Annah Schussman (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) scored her ninth of the season from sophomore
Niya Wilson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) three minutes later in the 25th. Wilson scored an unassisted marker two minutes after that for her 15th of the season as UWS went into halftime up, 3-0.
Alessi made it 4-0 in the 49th minute with a
Tori Vosburg (Cloquet, Minn./Esko) assist and freshman
Ava Giswold (Duluth, Minn./Proctor) scored in the 72nd for the final margin. Giswold's goal, assisted by classmate
Brenna Mattson (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior), was her third of the season.
UWS fired 26 on the NCU net, the most since peppering Crown with 27 in a 4-0 home victory on Sept. 19, 2017. Rams' goalkeeper Arien Fritts made 21 saves on the day. The 'Jackets attempted 52 shots in the match.

Jenna Lang (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) and
Morgan Philliber (Apple Valley, Minn./Edina) combined for the clean with each playing a half. Lang started and left with the lead to improve to 11-2-0.
North Central fell to 2-10-2 overall and 1-7-2 in league play with the loss.
The Yellowjackets host Northwestern Saturday 2 p.m. UWS topped the Eagles, 3-0, for the first time since 1997 in the first meeting of the season between the two on Oct. 8.
