MORRIS, Minn. – The UW-Superior women's soccer team scored four unanswered goals to capture its first-ever Upper Midwest Athletic Conference regular-season title with a 4-1 victory over Minnesota Morris at Cougar Field on Friday.
Senior
Annah Schussman (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) scored two goals and an assist – including the game-winning tally – to lead the way. She scored in the 28th minute on a tight angle from the right of Minnesota Morris goalkeeper Bernadette Cienik, giving the Yellowjackets the go-ahead goal. Sophomore
Allison Alessi (Shakopee, Minn./Prior Lake) assisted on the play for her fourth helper of the season before Schussman added her second of the day just before halftime.
Freshman
Mya Holmquist (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo ) fed Schussman with 32 seconds remaining in the half for a finish into the low-right corner to make it 3-1. The goal was Schussman's 11th of the season.

Ava Giswold (Duluth, Minn./Proctor) scored her fifth goal of the season, assisted by junior
Kenzie Oehlerking (Farmington, Minn./Farmington Area), for the final margin in the 82nd minute.
UWS (15-3-1, 12-0-1 UMAC) outshot the Cougars, 17-11 overall, but Morris held an 8-6 advantage on shots on frame.
Morris scored first as Shannon Young stole a poor clearance leading to an open net in the second minute. Sophomore
Tori Vosburg (Cloquet, Minn./Esko) knotted the match at 1-1 when she deposited a Schussman pass from the end line past Cienik in the 10th minute.
Lang made seven saves, including four in the second half, improving to 13-2-1 on the year. Cienik took the loss for the Cougars (6-12-0, 6-7-0). She made two saves.
Superior closes the regular season with a trip to Crown on Saturday. Kickoff at Old National Bank Stadium is 1 p.m.
