Four Yellowjackets Earn All-Wisconsin Honors from United Soccer Coaches

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Four UW-Superior men's soccer players have been named to the 2021 United Soccer Coaches All-Wisconsin Team, the organization announced on Monday.
 
Freshman defender Josh Bellamy (High Wycombe, England/FAB Football Academy) earned Co-Newcomer of the Year honors and was named to the second team, while senior forwards Blake Perry (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) and Protus Babaya (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) were first-team selections. Senior defender Scott Wilson (Ladybank, Scotland/Bell Baxter) was an honorable-mention pick.
 
Bellamy, who was UMAC Rookie of the Year in 2021, appeared in all 23 matches, starting 20, and scored six goals and four assists for 16 points. He has notched two game-winning goals, including the UMAC-championship-clinching goal, 10 seconds into overtime on Nov. 6 to beat Bethany Lutheran, 2-1. Bellamy also scored goals in consecutive 8-0 home victories over Martin Luther (Sept. 25) and Crown (Oct. 1).
 
Bellamy was part of nine clean sheets this season and has played 1,344 total minutes.
 
He shares the Newcomer of the Year award with Zach Thompson of MSOE.
 
Perry earned all-state honors for the third consecutive season. A four-time All-UMAC performer, he leads NCAA Division III in assists (20) and points (58). He scored 19 goals on the year, which currently ranks 10th in the country. He scored consecutive hat tricks at Minnesota Morris and Crown on Oct. 29 and 30.
 
Perry is also second in the country in assists per game (0.87), 10th in points per game (2.52), and 39th in goals per game (0.83).
 
Perry was named UMAC Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 1 and Oct. 18 this season. He became the program's all-time career leader in goals Oct. 2 in an 8-0 victory Crown and closed his career with 58 goals and 42 assists for 158 points in 81 matches.
 
He is currently 25th in the nation with five game-winning goals, 38th overall in goals and 43rd in points with 32.
 
Babaya is all-state for the second time this season. He was a two-time All-UMAC first-team selection in 2020 and 2021, scoring 14 goals and four assists in 17 matches this fall. He had two hat tricks, scoring three times each against Minnesota Morris on Oct. 2 and at Martin Luther on Oct. 15. 
 
Babaya was UMAC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 18.
 
Wilson was a three-time All-UMAC selection and UMAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2020 as well as a first-team choice. He was part of a backline that surrendered just 1.26 goals per match. He started all 22 matches he appeared in nine clean sheets, including three straight from Sept 25 against Martin Luther to Oct. 2 against Minnesota Morris.

Wilson scored two goals and six assists on the season, playing 1,485 minutes.
 
The Yellowjackets (16-7-0) won their fifth consecutive UMAC title and made fifth NCAA tournament appearance. UWS fell to No. 3 WashU in the first round at North Park on Nov. 13.
