SUPERIOR, Wis. – Playing its second match in as many days, the UW-Superior women's tennis team hosted UW-La Crosse Sunday at Lydia Thering Fieldhouse.
The Yellowjackets were swept by the Eagles, who won all but four games on the day.
Maya Callaway (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) and
Emily Wald (Antigo, Wis./Antigo) fell to Kimberly Steinert and Kellie Hierl, 8-0, as did
Kallie Olson (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert Senior) and
Grace Nelson (New London, Wis./New London) to Morgan Graf and Lauren Witt.
Chiyono Owa (Tokyo, Japan/Otsuma Nakano Senior) and
Olivia Roberts (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) took a game off of Hannah Riegle and Kaitlyn Kalinka.
In singles, Steinert beat Callaway, 6-0, 6-0, Susi Hu topped
Grace Nelson (New London, Wis./New London), 6-0, 6-1, and Hierl topped Wald by the same score.
Graf beat Roberts, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5, Riegle beat Owa, 6-1, 6-0 on three and Witt closed the match, defeating Olson, 6-0, 6-0 on court four.
Superior is now 2-4 on the season and La Crosse is 2-1.
The Yellowjackets next host Minnesota Duluth Wednesday at 5 p.m.
