SUPERIOR, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point scored three unanswered goals over the final two periods to spoil the UW-Superior women's hockey team's regular-season finale, 3-1, at Wessman Arena on Friday night.

Nicole Neuberger scored two goals, including the game winner at 14:53 of the second period, to help UWSP improve to 3-4-1 despite being outshot 41-24.

The Yellowjackets struck first as freshman defender Jada LeBlanc (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute) potted her first collegiate goal with assists from Jordann Swingle (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) and Andrea Stelling (Sioux Falls, S.D./Eaton Rapids (Mich.)) at 15:23 of the first period.

The Pointers evened the game 40 seconds into the second period when Annika Horman scored her second goal in as many games against UWS, getting an assist from Mary Kremer. That's the way it stayed until Neuberger beat Superior goaltender McKenzie Whalen (East Grand Forks, Minn./East Grand Forks) with an unassisted tally at 14:53. The 'Jackets outshot Stevens Point, 14-8, in the second period even though they went into the third down a goal.

Neuberger capped the scoring at 2:41 with a power-play goal, assisted by Sara Aadalen. UWS put pressure on in the period was not able to get anything by Pointers' goalie Olivia Schultz, who made 40 saves.

The game marked the final regular-season home game for five seniors – Jenna Curtis (Webster, Wis./Webster), Megan Dulong (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids), Amber Heidenreich (Phillips, Wis./Hayward), Amanda Sergent (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines) and Kaylee Wood (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park).

UWS has earned the No. 4-seed in the WIAC tournament and will host fifth-seeded Northland Monday at 2 p.m.
