MINNEAPOLIS – Tayler Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) and
Malania Madill (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge) each pitched two-hit shutouts to lead the UW-Superior softball team to a sweep of Augsburg at Edor Nelson Field on Saturday.

The Yellowjackets won the first game, 7-0, and the second, 8-0, in six innings to give
Melissa Fracker her first two victories as a collegiate head coach.

UWS (2-2) collected 15 hits, drove in nine runs and coaxed seven walks in the doubleheader, hitting .283 as a team.
Kaela Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) and
Olivia Bancroft-Hart (Cambria, Wis./Cambria-Friesland) each had three hits on the day while Bancroft-Hart,
Tayler Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) and
Tiffany Kirk (McHenry, Ill./McHenry East) tallied three RBIs apiece.

Tayler Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) had a no-hitter working one out into the sixth inning when Grace Syson singled to second and advanced to second on the throw. Sabriya Passmore, who earned a one-out walk, moved to third on the play, but both were stranded when Mackenzie Evenson grounded out to end the threat.

The Auggies got one more hit in the seventh on a one-out single by Kayla Hanson, but Kraemer struck out the final two batters for the win. Kraemer improved to 1-2 on the season while striking out five and walking three.

Superior scored three runs in the second inning, three more in the fifth and one in the seventh.
Jessica Jacobson (Sturgeon Bay, Wis./Southern Door) and
Tayler Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) each came across on wild pitches in the second for a 2-0 lead before Kirk scored on a fielder's choice by Bancroft-Hart.

Davriana Horvath (Esko, Minn./Esko) hit a two-run double to center field, plating
Kaela Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) and Bancroft-Hart to extend the lead to 5-0. Then, the 'Jackets tacked on with an RBI groundout from
Marley Burd (Glendale, Ariz./Centennial), scoring
Kaylie Walters (Cornell, Wis./Cornell).

UWS made it 7-0 in the seventh as
Kaela Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) led off with a fly ball to center that Evenson dropped, allowing Kaemer to motor all the way around the bases.

The second game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when the 'Jackets plated three, all on the same play. With two out and the bases loaded,
Kaela Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) singled to center field, scoring her sister. Bancroft-Hart came around on a throwing error at shortstop and Kirk scored on an error by the catcher.Â

Superior added five more in the sixth to bring the game to an early end. Kirk came up with the big blow, a two-run double to left-center field, chasing
Tayler Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) and Jacobson home to make it 6-0.
Erika Mattson (Ely, Minn./Ely Memorial) scored on a wild pitch and Kirk on a sacrifice bunt off the bat of Bancroft-Hart.

Madill (1-0) fanned five and issued one walk in the circle.
