SUPERIOR, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Superior and Yellowjacket Athletics have announced the 2021 UW-Superior Alumni and Friends Golf Outing is scheduled for Friday, July 16.  After a one-year hiatus, the event returns for its 34th year at Nemadji Golf Course in Superior.

"It was disappointing for a number of reasons when the pandemic didn't allow us to hold the event in 2020, so we are very excited to have it back on the schedule in 2021," UW-Superior Director of Athletics Nick Bursik said. "We had a lot of people say how much they missed playing in our event last year and we're happy to be able to welcome them back this year. It should be another great day for our alumni as well as our campus community."

This year's outing is capped at 25 four-person teams. With a noon shotgun start, the cost to enter the scramble is $100 per golfer and $400 per team. The registration fee includes two carts per team, proximity prizes, a gift, and food vouchers. A skins game is available at an additional cost. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by a noon shotgun start.

Flag sponsorships (limited to 24 flags) are available at a cost of $125, and you receive the flag after the event. Hole sponsorship signs are also available for $75.

In recent years proceeds from the Yellowjacket Alumni Golf Outing have gone toward the purchase of skate sharpeners for the men's and women's hockey teams, a shoot-around machine for the men's and  women's basketball teams, and new laundry facilities for teams utilizing the laundry room at the Marcovich Wellness Center.

Proceeds also benefit the continuation of the Yellowjacket Athletics  branding initiative as well as the creation of historical recognition in  the Marcovich Wellness Center.

"We know things are going to look a little different this year than in previous years because we are still in the midst of the pandemic," Bursik said. "We are working with our partners at Nemadji Golf Course and Douglas County to ensure that we are hosting a fun event that is safe for everyone involved. We are looking forward to having everyone back in July to show their support for our programs and our student-athletes."
